Neglect Kills Empty Neglect Kills

Post  Miabec Sun Apr 26, 2009 9:37 pm

Mel banged at her stable door, impatient. She couldn't remember the last time someone had come in here too seee her... was it days ago, or weeks? She was starving, but lucky for the small refilling water trough that kept her alive. The horses had been passing her all the straw she needed to survive... but it wasnt enough. With a crash, she broke down the door and galloped into the yard.

Xander pulled up at the barn to check on Heidi, but noticing a horse was out he ran over to it grabbing its halter, and rubbed it's nose and started back into the barn with her.

Melody had totally destroyed the door. The livery owner, Renee, was in the tack room, and had come rushing out when she had seen the noise. She thanked Xander and checked Mel over for injuries. She was alright, but a tiny bit lame when Renee trotted her up. She was put out in the pasture and mel galloped around, happy to stretch hre legs, ignoring the slight pain in her leg. She whinnied to Heidi, a human she had seen several times and had given her a treat once or twice.

Heidi turned around at the whinny, but went back to tacking up prayers.
Xander was happy Mel was okay and they didnt need to call in a vet, He looked at Mel run around the pasture, thinknning of how miserable the horse must have been, being kept in that stall, with no food or water, and began to think who the owner was.

Renee came to see Melody in the paddock.

'Mel- I know you wont understand me but Im going to tell you anyway. Your owner Mikaela was in a car crash and broke her leg. she's in hospital and can't come to see you. I told someone to look after you but they obviously havent been doing that, so I'll have to do it myslelf.' Renee looked sorry.

Melody could understand. She drooped her head as she was lead back into her stall and given a bucket of chaff & sugarbeet.

Mel whinnied to Prayers and told him what had happened. She missed Mikaela already- she was such a nice person. No wonder no'one had come to see her, normally Mikaela came once or twice a day.

Prayers nickered back from the cross ties, and impatiently pranced in place at the cross ties, while he was untacked and turned out by Heidi, He got a drink and galloped around the pasture.

Mel ran over to Prayers and told him the news. She hung her head.
Then she had an idea.
'Want to run to the hospital to have a look? Itll be an adventure!'
